United Utilities Group PLC (UU) is planning to upgrade its west wastewater treatment plant in Blackburn, Lancashire, the UK.
The project will upgrade the Blackburn and Darwen wastewater treatment plant plants.
It includes the construction of additional storm storage capacity, transfer sewers, brewery waste, screening, liquor treatment facilities and other infrastructure facilities, and the installation of new power engines.
On August 21, 2014, UU has invited tenders for the contractor to provide design, procurement, construction and commissioning with October 10, 2014 as the bids submission due date. However, the tendering process was cancelled due to regulatory issues.
In June 2015, UU has floated tenders for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and optimization of new and refurbished wastewater treatment facility at Blackburn together with a new transfer pipeline. The deadline for submission was scheduled on July 14, 2015. However the contract has not yet awarded till date.
Construction is expected to commence by the end of 2017.
