The Government of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) is planning to build a resort and hotel at Water Island in the US Virgin Islands.
The project involves the construction of a resort and hotel on 16ha of land. It includes the construction of a 100-room hotel, 40 townhouses, 30 rental villas, a deep-water dock, an 80-slip marina, restaurants, retail and commercial space and parking facilities.
In 2012, Revpar International (Revpar) was appointed as project manager.
Michael Graves & Associates has been appointed as architect.
On November 29, 2012, Revpar conducted a market study and financial analysis and issued a feasibility report for the project.
On September 19, 2013, USVI Property and Procurement Department (USVIPPD) issued expression of interest (EoI) for developers with November 15, 2013 as the submission date.
In July 2014, Water Island Development Company LLC (WIDC) was appointed to develop and manage the project.
USVI signed a 99-year land lease agreement with WIDC to redevelop the proposed site in November 2014.
WIDC appointed SB Architects to develop the conceptual site plan for the resort.
