The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) is planning to undertake the construction of a medical center in Louisville, Kentucky, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 92,903m2 medical center comprising 104 inpatient beds. It also includes the construction of clinics specializing in primary care, a surgery, mental health facilities. a diagnostic treatment unit, an ambulatory care unit, research facilities, administrative space, parking spaces and related facilities, and the installation of medical equipment, safety and security systems.
URS and Smith Group have been appointed to provide planning and full architectural and engineering services for the project.
In July 2012, the VA paid US$12.9 million to buy the 14.16ha of land from Blue Equity LLC.
In November 2012, the Department of Veterans Affairs has undertaken a public consultation for the master plans of the project.
In December 2014, two studies were conducted, including a less-detailed environmental assessment.
In August 2015, design activities are underway and awaiting for environmental approval.

In October 2016, the draft of environmental impact statement (EIS) has been issued and public consultation on EIS is underway.
A public meeting is scheduled to be held on the draft of EIS on November 15, 2016, and the consultation is scheduled to be closed by December 12, 2016.
Subject to approval, construction is expected to commence by the third quarter of 2018 or by the fourth quarter of 2018. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
