PT UPC Sidrap Bayu Energi (UPCSBE), the joint venture (JV) of PT Binatek Reka Energi (PT Binatek), UPC Renewable Indonesia (UPC), AC Energy Holdings and SunEdison LLC (SunEdison) is undertaking the construction of a wind farm project in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a 75MW wind farm. It includes the construction of a substation, a wind tower and the installation of 28 wind turbines with 2.5MW each, generators, transformers and the laying of transmission lines.
Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has been appointed as turbines supply contractor.
In August 19, 2015, UPCSBE signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT PLN (Persero).
On April 7,2016, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) announced that it will provide US$120 million of financing for the development, construction, commissioning and operation of the project.
In July 2016, construction works commenced.
In February 2017, UPCSBE achieved the financial closure.
Construction works are underway and expected to be completed by first quarter of 2018.
