Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corp. (UMERC) a subsidiary of We Energies is planning to build a natural gas-fired power plant in Baraga County, Michigan, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 35-55MW natural gas-fired power plant. It includes the construction of a substation, a powerhouse, gas storage tanks and related infrastructure, the installation of gas-fired turbines, transformers and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
On January 30, 2017, UMERC submitted the planning application to the Michigan Public Service Commission.
As of August 2017, UMERC is awaiting approvals.
Construction is expected to commence by the fourth quarter of 2017 and to be completed by 2019.
