University of Central Florida (UCF) and HCA North Florida Division (HCA) are planning to build a hospital in Orlando, Florida, the US.
The project involves the construction of a hospital comprising 100 beds on 10ha of land. It will be developed in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of an emergency medical department, a parking space and the second phase includes an outpatient services and physician practice building.
The project includes the construction of treatment rooms, administration facilities, operating theaters, emergency departments and parking facilities, and the installation of medical equipment, safety and security systems.
HCA will contribute US$175 million for the development while UCF will provide the land and its strong academic brand.
In March 2017, the Florida Board of Governors (FBG) approved the public-private hospital development.
In July 2017, the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) gave the final certificate of need approval for the development.
Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018, and scheduled to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2020.
Site-preparation activities are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2019.
Pre-design activities are underway.
