TransLink, Vancouver’s regional transportation authority, is planning to construct the University of British Columbia (UBC) to Broadway Subway Line project in British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the construction of 5.7km subway rail line.
The project includes the construction of an underground tunnel, using tunnel boring machine (TBM) method, stations, laying of tracks, the installation of safety and signaling systems and construction of other related facilities.
The project will be funded by the Government of Canada.
The initial study of the project has been undertaken by KPMG, in association with MMK Consulting (MMK) and with contribution from UBC, the City of Vancouver, and the Vancouver Economic Commission.
Foundex Explorations Ltd has been awarded drilling contract. The scope of the contract covers extracting soil core samples for analyzation in a laboratory to ensure soil condition assumptions are accurate and the proper building techniques are used for project implementation.
In September 2015, soil test drilling for geotechnical study commenced.
