Total S.A (Total), DONG E&P (UK) Ltd (Dong) and SSE E&P UK Ltd (SSE) are jointly undertaking the development of a gas field in the Shetland Islands, the UK.

The project involves the transformation of the exploratory well into a production well and the laying of a 16km production pipeline tied back to the main Laggan-Tormore flowline. The gas field will reach a plateau of 17,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d).

Subsea works include the installation of a four-slot steel tube manifold, tie-back of the field to the In-Line Tee 3 (ILT3) tie-in point of the Laggan-Tormore production pipeline system with a 16km and 12 inch diameter production pipeline, a six-inch diameter monoethylene glycol (MEG) pipeline to prevent formation of hydrates during transportation and a two-inch diameter piggy-backed service pipeline.

The production flowline will be integrated with flowline end termination structures (FLETs) and a pipeline end manifold (PLEM) will be installed near ILT3. A 35km power, communications, hydraulic and chemical umbilical will also be installed from the Laggan manifold to the Edradour manifold.

In 2013, the project was put on hold due to significant cost increases, but subsequent negotiations with the contractors reduced the costs, allowing Total to revive the project in 2014.

In June 2013, Costain Group plc (formerly EPC Offshore Ltd) was appointed to provide project management services.

On July 4, 2014, Technip was appointed as the main contractor. The scope of work includes fabrication and installation of 12 inch production pipelines, 6-inch MEG (1) pipeline with 2-inch piggy backed service line, supply and installation of steel tube umbilical, fabrication and installation of pipeline end manifold, flowline end termination, flexible tails and rigid well tie-in spools, as well as the installation of templates and manifolds, rock dumping and pre-commissioning.

On October 16, 2014, FMC Technologies, Inc. received a contract from Total to supply subsea systems. The scope of supply consists of subsea equipment including manifolds and associated connections and controls equipment, wellhead systems, subsea tie back connection equipment and a subsea production tree.

On March 25, 2015, the Department of Energy and Climate Change approved Field Development Plans (FDPs).

Construction activities are underway and expected to be completed by fourth quarter of 2017.
