Total S.A (Total) and China Power Investment Corp. (CPI) are planning to undertake the construction of a petrochemical plant with a capacity of 800,000 tonnes per annum in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China.
The project involves the construction of a manufacturing unit, a gasification unit, storage space, an office space and supporting facilities, and the installation of machinery, equipment and safety systems.
The developer will use Methanol to Olefins (MTO) and the Olefin Cracking Process (OCP) technology to produce petrochemicals. The MTO technology enables the production of propylene and ethylene from methanol, which can be obtained from various feedstocks such as natural gas, coal or biomass.
