The project involves the laying of a 350km, 400 kV transmission line from Chalinze to Dodoma. It includes the construction of substations and related infrastructure, the installation of transformers and switch yard equipment and power control units, and the laying of transmission lines.
Tanesco invited expressions of interest (EOI) with the latest date for submission of January 14, 2014.
The scope of work includes consultancy services for the feasibility study, supervision and management of engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, and supervision of all works by the EPC contractor on behalf of Tanesco.
SMEC Holdings Ltd has been appointed as consulting engineer.
In February 2015, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate was issued by the National Environment Management Council (NEMC).
The feasibility studies are in the final stages of completion.
