Iran Renewable Energy Organization (SUNA), a subsidiary of Iran Power Generation Transmission and Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR) is undertaking a new thermal farm project in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, Iran.
The project involves the construction of a 1,400MW thermal power plant with four units of 350MW each. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, a water treatment facility to process 200,000m3 of water per day and related infrastructure, the installation of generators, transformers and turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.
In November 2015, Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA) unveiled the project plans during the Russian president's visit to Iran for economic and energy talks.
The 85% of the total cost is being provided by Russian firm and the funding will be carried out through Iran's Bank of Industry and Mine.
On July 29, 2016, Technopromexport and Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPHC) signed an agreement for the development of the project. Technopromexport was awarded a turnkey contract to provide engineering design, equipment supply, and installation, construction and training services.
In January 2017, Technopromexport and TPPHC signed a final formal agreement for the development of the project.
Construction works are underway.
