The Pima County (TPC) is planning to undertake the construction of a road in Pima County, Arizona, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 25.7km road connecting I-19 north of the Pima Mine Road interchange to I-10 at Rita Road. It will be developed in three phases.
The first phase includes the relocation of the existing Hughes Access Road at the Aerospace Parkway.
The second phase includes the construction of an 11km stretch connecting high-tech aerospace and manufacturing centers around Tucson International Airport and the UA Science and Technology Park, near I-10 and Rita Road.
The third phase includes the construction of a 14.4km stretch to connect I-19 near Sahuarita to the newly built Aerospace Corridor and the Sonoran Corridor to Rita Road and I-10.
The project includes the construction of carriageways, service roads, pedestrian ways and related facilities, and the installation of signaling systems.
Pima Association of Governments (PAG) has been appointed as study consultant.
Since 2012, PAG has allocated US$12.7 million of regional funds for the design and construction of the project.
On October 7, 2014, The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the draft plan amendment.
In March 2015, the groundbreaking ceremony held on the project.
In May 2017, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) issued Notice of intent to prepare a Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
FHWA and ADOT are in the process of gathering public comments for the preparation of Tier 1 EIS.
The Sonoran Corridor project involves the construction of a 25.7km road between Interstate-10 (I-10) and Interstate-19 (I-19) in Pima County, Arizona, the US.
The US$600 million project includes the following:
