Total E&P BV (Total) and Albatross Uganda Ltd (AUL) are planning to build a thermal power plant in Buliisa, Uganda.
The project involves the construction of a 146MW thermal power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of steam turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
Total applied for a project power generation license to the Uganda Electricity Regulatory Authority (UERA).
Total and AUL will sell the power to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd.
As of August 2017, Total and AUL are awaiting for the power generation license
approval from the UERA.
Construction is expected to commence in 2019, and be completed by 2020.
