Transport for NSW (TNSW) also known as Department of Transport, NSW Government is planning to build a light rail in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the construction of a 22km light rail connecting Westmead with Strathfield. It includes the construction of 16 stations, parking and related facilities, the installation of signal lights, power-related facilities, the laying of tracks and transmission lines.
It also includes construction of two light rail pedestrian zones in the Parramatta CBD and a cycling and pedestrian link from Parramatta to Carlingford to provide a complete off-road connection.
The project will be developed in two stages.
The first stage involves the construction of a 12km light rail line from Westmead to Carlingford via central Parramatta and Camellia.
The second stage involves the construction of a 10km light rail line from Camellia to Strathfield via Olympic Park.
The 16 stations are Carlingford, Telopea, Dundas, Rydalmere, Camelia, Tramway Ave, Harris St, Parramatta Square, Eat St, Prince Alfred Square, Fennell St, Factory St, Cumberland Hospital, The Children’s at Westmead, Westmead Hospital and Westmead.
The NSW Government has committed US$765 million and the federal government US$60 million to the project.
TSA Management has been appointed as to provide Design and Project Management and Procurement Management services.
The NSW Government allocated US$743 million in capital funding from Restart NSW and Rebuilding NSW.

On April 8, 2016, TNSW issued a tender for Infrastructure Technical Advisor Services with April 18, 2016 as the last date for submission.
On May 18, 2016, TNSW issued tender for Operations and Fleet Technical Advisory Services, with June 10, 2016 as the last date for submission.
On June 15, 2016, TNSW issued tender for Cost Planning Advisor with July 13, 2016 as the last date for submission.
On July 5, 2016, TNSW issued a tender for Integrated Transport Planning Services on August 2, 2016 as the last date for submission.
In November 2016, SLR Consulting was appointed as voice and vibration technical advisor for the project.
On August 23, 2017, TNSW unveiled the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of the first stage, for public consultation, with submission dead line on October 23, 2017.
Planning activities are underway on the second stage, and is due to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2017.
Construction works on first stage is scheduled to commence in the third quarter 2018 and the entire project is scheduled to complete by 2023.
