The Transport for New South Wales (TNSW) is planning to build a road way along the Newell Highway from Mungle Back Creek to Boggabilla in New South Wales, Australia.
The project involves the construction of the 28km road between Mungle Back Creek to Boggabilla. It includes the construction of service roads, road separators, pavements and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling and safety systems.
On March 6, 2015, the Australian Government and New South Wales Government granted US45.58 million.
In March 2016, ARCADIS NV was appointed as an environmental consultant to undertake the concept development, detailed design and a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the project. Their work will also include surveying, geotechnical investigations, and environmental field studies.
In May 2016, the Australian and New South Wales governments funded US$7 million for the project.
In June 2016, NSW government committed US$2.9 million in the 2016 - 2017 state budget to continue planning works.
In February 2017, environmental impacts review was in progress.
In May 2017, Federal Government announced US$45 million funding in equity for the project over next 10 years. Out of which US$17 million to be provided for planning and preparatory work in 2017-18.
The government plans to establish a government-owned company with strong private sector expertise in FY2017/18 to manage the development process.
Construction activities scheduled to begin by end of 2017.
