Taseko Mines Limited (TKO) is undertaking the development of a gold-copper mine in Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada.
The project involves the development of a gold-copper mine with a production capacity of 25.55MTPA on 8,500ha of land. It includes the construction, development, and operation of surface open pit gold-copper mine and related infrastructure facilities.
The project includes the construction of a processing plant with a capacity of 25.55MTPA, dams, a 2.8km access road will connect to the 4500 road, administration buildings, and related facilities and the installation of machinery, safety and security systems.
Axxent Engineering Ltd has been appointed as an engineering consultant; Gibraltar Mines Ltd, Hatch Ltd., SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. and Knight Piesold Consultores S.A. as study consultants; Giroux Consultants Ltd. as a geotechnical consultant.
In 2007, a feasibility study was completed.
On December 17, 2009, a technical report was submitted to the TKO.
In 2010, the Federal and provincial government reviewed the development application and approved the Prosperity project.
In June 2011, TKO submitted a new project description to the Federal Government.
In July 2013, public hearing meetings were held.
On October 31, 2013, the review panel submitted its 323-page report to the Minister of Environment.
In February 2014, the Government of Canada (GoC) announced that it will not issue the federal authorizations for the project.
As of July 2017, the project facing delay due to the legal issues.
