Texas Department of Transporation (TDOT) and the Ministry of Communications and Transportation of Mexico (MoCT) joint venture is planning to undertake the construction of a rail line from Texas to Mexico.
The project involves the construction of a 483km high speed rail line from San Antonio in Texas to Monterrey in Nuevo León.
The project will include the construction of railway stations, interchange sections, passage ways and related infrastructure, the installation of signaling systems, and the laying of rail tracks.
The project has received the go-ahead and funding is lined up from the federal government and the state of Nuevo Leon.
In January 16, 2014, TDOT and MoCT presented the plans to U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
On November 07, 2015, TDOT and MoCT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Consejo Mexicano de Comercio Exterior (COMCE), a Mexican business association that focuses on foreign trade.
In November 2017, study has determined the route would be feasible.
Study works are underway.
