Summary

The Crown Estate (TCE) is planning to build a residential community in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a residential community comprising 2,500 homes, out of which 1,000 would be affordable homes.

The project includes the construction of community centers, retail units, parking facility and related facilities.

In December 2015, St Albans City & District Council invited developers to outline their housing and infrastructure proposals for eight tracts of land onto Green Belt sites through its draft Strategic Local Plan (SLP). Following which, TCE submitted the plans.

On January 8, 2016, six-week consultation process commenced on St Albans’ draft Strategic Local Plan (SLP) and was completed on February 19, 2016.

Subject to the responses to the consultation, an independent planning inspector is in examining the SLP and provide an update to the council by the fourth quarter of 2016 with a final planning blueprint scheduled to be adopted in May 2017.
