In December 2012, Turtle Bay Resort held an open house meeting for Oahu's North Shore community and others to talk about its plans for expansion and in April 2014, TBR agreed to sell some of its development rights to the state for US$48.5 million in a deal that will preserve 227ha of undeveloped land at the North Shore property.
