Turnagain Arm Tidal Energy Corporation (TATEC) is planning to construct a tidal power plant in Anchorage, Alaska, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 240MW tidal power plant. It will include the construction of a 13km tidal fence between Fire Island in Anchorage and Point Possession in Kenai Peninsula Borough, a water storage tank, a power control building, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of 24 low-head, bi-directional horizontal bulb turbines of 10MW each, and the laying of a 29km, 230kv submerged transmission line and a 45km, 230kv above-ground transmission line.
In February 2013, TATEC submitted a planning application proposing the feasibility study for the project.
In February 2014, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved a preliminary permit.
