SolarReserve plans to construct the Tamarugal Concentrated Solar Plant in Pozo Almonte, Tamarugal Province, Tarapacá Region, Chile.
The project involves the construction of three CSP towers with a generation capacity of 150MW each, thermal storage tanks, cooling towers, powerhouses, substations and the installation of photovoltaic panels, generators, transformers and the laying of 5.05km of the 220kV transmission line.
The project is being developed in three phases: TAM 1, TAM 2 and TAM 3.
The project will involve the construction of three substations: TAM 1, TAM 2, TAM 3.
The TAM 3 collecting substation will be connected to the TAM 2 collecting substation through a simple 220kV underground circuit electric line of approximately 50 meters. The TAM 2 collecting substation will be connected to the TAM 1 collecting substation through a 220kV simple circuit transmission line, which will have an extension of five kilometer of aerial tracing.
In March 2017, the project received the environmental approval from Servicio Evaluación Ambiental (SEA) Chile.
