Senex Energy Limited (SXY) is planning to undertake the Lacerta Coal Seam Gas Field (CSG) Development project in Australia.
The project involves the development of a coal seam gas field and will be executed in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a 30 petajoule (PJ) per annum gas processing and dehydration plant, 8PJ per annum capacity compression unit along with 40 production wells.
The second phase includes the construction of additional compression units following increase in the field output.
In March 2008, a consortium comprising GHD and Delco Australia was selected for undertaking FEED study for the project. In April 2008 drilling commenced on first phase.
Funding for first Phase development is secured through a combination of US$44 million capital raising and proceeds from the sale of the company's offshore United Kingdom oil assets.
Queensland Gas Company (QGC) delayed the proposed project and slated it as future development, in order to complete its Queensland Curtis LNG project.
In September 2014, SXY gained 100% ownership of the Lacerta CSG field project via a deal to swap assets with BG Group.
In September 2015, Senex announced that it had entered into agreements with GLNG for the development of the Project.
In December 2015 Senex completed the sale transaction with GLNG.
In June 2016, Senex is progressing planning and appraisal activities including pilot testing, concept engineering studies, stakeholder engagement and environmental impact assessment on the project.
In June 2017, drilling works commenced on the project.
In December 2017, Drilling works on phase 2 are completed.
Planning activities are underway, and expected to secure Regulatory and environmental approvals by May 2018.
