Saare Wind Energy OU (SWEOU) is planning to undertake the construction of an offshore wind farm in Saaremaa, Estonia.
The project involves the construction of an offshore wind farm. The turbines would be located at a distance of 800-1, 100m from one another, meaning that the territory to be covered is approximately 100 km2.
It includes the construction of substations and related infrastructure facilities, the installation of 100 offshore wind turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.
A connection consisting of an undersea cable and a transmission line on the ground will be built to link up the wind farm to the national power supply system at the substation of Sindi.
SWEOU submitted a permit application to the Ministry of Economic Affairs in November 2015.
Planning activities are underway and construction of the offshore wind farm is scheduled to be completed by early 2022.
