Black & Veatch has been appointed to undertake engineering studies and to prepare engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender documents, Fichtner Engineering and Consulting as the technical adviser, the UK’s DLA Piper as legal adviser and the UK’s Alderbrook as a financial adviser.

In November 2015, SWCC awarded Ayesa a contract to provide engineering consulting services for the project.

Planning activities are underway. Construction works are expected to be completed by 2021.

The project involves the construction of a desalination plant with processing capacity of 600,000m3 of desalinated water per day in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia.

The US$1,300 million project includes the following:
