St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Pty Ltd (SVHM) is planning to undertake the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery project in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The project partners include University of Melbourne, St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research, Bionics Institute, O'Brien Institute, Australian Catholic University, University of Wollongong, Centre for Eye Research Australia, RMIT University, Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Swinburne University.
The project involves the construction of a purpose-built research and academic medical center.
The project will include the demolition of the building, the construction of laboratory rooms, office facility, classrooms and facilities and the installation of bio-science equipment and laboratory-related machinery.
Project partners and State Government are committed to fund US$52.3 million each, the remaining funding will be sought from the Commonwealth over the next 12 months.
As of May 2015, SVHM was seeking funds that the State Government committed to contribute.
SVHM is yet to receive allocated funds.
Celsius has been appointed as design consultant.
In June 2016, Andrews Labor Government has committed to provide US$43 million funds.
Planning activities are underway.
