Stockholm Vatten AB (SV) is planning to undertake the upgrade of the city's Waste Water Treatment system in Stockholm, Sweden.
The project involves the upgrade of Henriksdalsringen Waste Water Treatment plant (WWTP) and the construction of a 15km sewage tunnel using drill and blast method from Bromma sewage treatment plant to Henriksdalsringen WWTP that will be 30-90m below ground level, a new pump station, new coarse screening and primary sedimentation basins, the installation of related machinery and safety equipment, the demolition of Bromma sewage treatment plant, and the laying of pipelines.
The sewage tunnel will be dug rather than drilled, both because of the soil conditions and that it will become cheaper.
Tyrens has been appointed as an environmental consultant, AF Group to deliver electrical solutions including telecommunications and automation systems.
In March 2015, General Electric (GE) was appointed as design and supply contractor. The scope of the contract includes the design and servicing of the entire membrane filtration package and supply of membrane bioreactor (MBR) equipment.
In June 2016, SV has signed a ten-year loan with Nordic Investment Bank (NIB).
As of June 2017, preparatory works are underway for the sewage tunnel and construction is scheduled to begin fourth quarter of 2017.
