Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA) is planning to build a waste to energy plant in Gilan, Iran.
The project involves the construction of a 20MW waste to energy plant with a processing capacity of 350 tonnes of waste per day. It includes the construction of waste-processing units, storage facilities, a powerhouse and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.
The plant will be built on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract.
In March 2017, SUNA signed an agreement with the Government of Czech Republic to invite the companies from their country to construct and finance the project.
As of May 2017, planning activities are underway.
