Strabag SE (STR), Andritz Hydro (Andritz) and Roadbridge are planning to build a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in County Tipperary, Munster, Ireland.
The project involves the construction of 360MW hydroelectric power plant. It includes the construction of a reservoir with a handling capacity of 2.5 billion liters of water, an underground powerhouse, substations, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines, generators, transformers and a 5m steel pipe, and the laying of 400KV and 220KV transmission lines.
As of January 2016, STR, Andritz and Roadbridge are undertaking detailed feasibility assessments and implementing a consultation program within the local community.
Subject to the completion of a feasibility study, STR plans submit a planning application in 2017.
The project is in its early stage of development. Construction works will be completed by 2020.
