State-owned refining company, Societe Tunisienne des Industries de Raffinage (STIR) is undertaking the Bizerte Refinery Upgrade project at Bizerte in Tunisia.
The project involves the upgrade of the existing 35,000-barrel-a-day capacity plant to increase the capacity by 25%. The project is planned to be implemented in three phases.
It includes the construction of distillation column, addition of a hydro-desulphurisation unit, the processing of low-sulphur residue, oil storage tanks, processing units, installation of pipeline infrastructure and other related infrastructural facilities
The study for the project was completed in third quarter of 2008.
In 2015, STIR has awarded Studi Tecnologie Progetti with the FEED contract for the new CDU Desalter system.
Design activities are underway on the new desalter system. Planning activities are underway on other phases.
The project involves the upgrade of existing plant to increase the current 35,000-barrel-a-day capacity by 25% in Bizerte, Tunisia.
