Summary

The Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz (STEG) is undertaking the construction of a gas-fired combined cycle power plant at Radès in Ben Arous commune, Tunisia.

The project involved the construction of a 450MW gas fired power plant, power houses, a substation and related infrastructure, installation of a gas turbine, a steam turbine, a heat recovery steam generator, transmissions and switch yards, and the laying of transmission lines and gas pipelines.

The project is financed by Japanese Official Development Assistant (ODA) organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In June 2017, The Japanese firm Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and Sumitomo have been appointed as contractors for the project.

MHPS will provide a M701F gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and a steam turbine, as well as dispatch technical advisors and supervisors to support during the installation and commissioning periods.

Sumitomo will offer balance of plant and undertake civil and installation work in the construction of the plant.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will provide generators.

Pre-Construction activities are underway.

Scope

The project involved the construction of a 450MW capacity combined cycle power plant at Radès in Ben Arous Commune, Tunis, Tunisia.
