Scottish and Southern Energy plc (SSE) is planning to build a pumped storage project at Balmacaan in Scotland, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a dam, a reservoir and a power plant with capacity of 600MW. It will include the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and other related facilities, the installation of turbines, generators, transformers and control gates, and the laying of transmission lines.
ASH design + assessment has been appointed to undertake Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to produce Environmental Statement (ES) and MWH Global, Inc. as consulting engineer.
A public consultation was held in February 2012.
Planning activities are underway.
The project involves the construction of a 600MW hydro-electric power plant at Balmacaan between Drumnadrochit and Invermoristonin, Great Glen, Scotland, the UK.
