State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is planning to construct the High-Speed Rail Line project between Bangkok and Rayong in Thailand.
The project involves the construction of a 194km railway line connecting Bangkok with Rayong.
The project includes the construction of new railway stations, a double track section, maintenance buildings and passageways, the installation of locomotives and equipment, signals and safety systems and the laying of rail tracks.
On July 1, 2013, SRT signed an agreement with Asian Engineering Consultants Corporation Ltd (AEC), Japan International Consultants for Transportation Co Ltd, Enrich Consulting, Oriental Consultants Co., Ltd and WE Consultant Ltd firms to conduct a feasibility study for the project. The scope of the contract also covers survey and design works for the project.
In June 2016, the project has been recommended to be included into the PPP Fast Track program and undergoing an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and awaiting approvals from The National Environment Board.
In January 2017, the bidding process is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2017.
As of February 2017, study activities are underway.
