State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is planning to undertake a high speed railway line project between Bangkok and Hua Hin in Thailand.
The project involves the construction of a 211km high speed railway line and related infrastructure. The railway line would feature with standard gauge of 1.435m with 250kmph speed.
The project will include the construction of new railway stations, interchange sections, passage ways and related facilities, the installation of signaling system and the lying of rail tracks.
Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) and The Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) have been appointed as environmental consultants.
In May 2014, OTP has submitted the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report on the project.
In June 2015, survey and design for the project completed and are waiting for EIA approval.
In August 2015, Thai Beverage Pcl (ThaiBev) has shown interest to invest in the proposed project. In May 2016, the SRT board approved the project.
As of November 2016, SRT is awaiting for the finalization of studies.
In May 2017, study activities are underway.
