Soda Mountain Solar, LLC (SMS), a subsidiary of Bechtel Development Company, Inc., is planning to construct a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Mojave Desert, California, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 287MW solar PV plant on a 769ha of land. It includes the construction of a substation, and solar panel platforms, the installation of solar panels, inverters and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

In October 2012, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and San Bernardino County (SBC) started the environmental impact review of the project.
In January 2014, BLM held a public consultation for the project plans with March 3, 2014 as the deadline for submission of comments.
On June 5, 2015, BLM issued final environmental impact statement (EIS) reducing the from 1,034 to 769ha and decreasing the projects capacity.
Bechtel's in-house division will undertake the construction works.
In September 2015, BLM reviewed the project plan.
In March 2016, project received federal approvals.
On April 5, 2016, BLM and U.S. Department of the Interior issued the approvals.
In August 2016, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors declined to authorize an environmental permit for the project.
Planning activities are underway and construction works are expected to commence in 2018.
