Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) is planning to undertake the construction of a light rail line in Seoul, South Korea.
The project involves the construction of a 9.05km Myeonmok light rail line connecting Sinnae-dong to Cheongnyangni.
The project will include the construction of stations, parking facilities, control rooms and waiting rooms, and the laying of tracks.
In January 2012, development proposals were re-initiated.
The project will be developed under build-transfer-operate (BTO) process. Under the terms, private investors will receive concessions from the government to finance, construct and operate a business for a limited time and eventually return business ownership to the government.
The project is extended to the Seonggwon and Anam in Dongdaemun-gu and the light railway (Sanggye station to Wangsimni station, 13.3km).
In July 2017, the SMG has finalized the final negotiation with the Northeast Railway Light Rail Co Ltd to develop the project.
Construction work are expected to commence in second quarter of 2019 and completed by 2024.
