Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) is planning to undertake the Palali Airport Refurbishment project in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
The project involves the upgrade of existing facilities and the construction of a new runway and terminal building. It includes the construction of aprons, fuel storage facilities, a control center and a taxiway.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) has expressed interest in modernizing the Palali Airport project.
In June 2012, the government of Sri Lanka has turned down India’s offer to develop the Palali airport and instead be run jointly by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Air Force.
In July 2013, SLAF initiated the process of land acquisition for the project.
AAI and Sri Lankan Ministry of Civil Aviation are separately undertook the feasibility studies for the project.
In February 2017, feasibility studies completed.
Project is facing delay as SLAF is awaiting the results of the feasibility study consucted by AAI.
The project involves the refurbishment of Palali Airport in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
The US$75 million project includes the following:
