The Duqm Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZAD) is undertaking the Jurf and Saay Water Channels project in Oman.
The project involves the construction of water channels. The project will include the construction of embankment, levees, excavation of channels to levels and related infrastructure facilities.
The Jurf channel will start at the downstream of Jurf dam and heads from west to south, then turns to west and ends by the sea with different bed widths started from 340m to 650m at the sea outlet. The total channel length is approximately 16km.
The Saay channel starts from the downstream of Saay dam along the natural wadi route and heads from south to north till the junction with Jurf channel. The channel has different bed widths started from 90m to 320m when joined with Jurf channel.
Renardet S. A. & Partners Consulting Engineers LLC has been appointed as consultant.
On June 7, 2015, SEZAD Invited interested Local and International Contractors with relevant experience to submit a bid with submission deadline as August 11, 2015.
In July 2015, the submission deadline was extended to September 8, 2015. And as of July 2015, 20 companies have purchased the bid documents.
On November 3, 2015, tender has been closed.
Adali Holding (SERKA) and Rajab & Aidi Earthmoving Company (RAECO) have been appointed as construction contractors.
Federici Stirling Batco LLC has been appointed as civil engineer for the project.
The project involves the construction of water channels in Al Wusta Governorate, Oman.
The US$25 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of embankments
2. Construction of levees
3. Construction of related infrastructure facilities
4. Excavation of channels to levels
