Sew Nyukcharong Chu Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd (SNCPCL), a subsidiary of SEW Infrastructure Ltd (SEW), is planning to undertake the construction of Nyukcharong Chu Hydro Electric Power Plant project on Nyukcharong Chu River in Arunachal Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of a 96MW run of the river hydroelectric power plant on a 25ha of land. It comprises three units of 27MW.
The project includes the construction of an underground powerhouse, switchyard, a 22m high barrage intake structure, a 1,271m head race tunnel of 4.8m diameter, a tail race tunnel of 5.5m diameter, a surge shaft of 62m high 7.0m diameter, a pressure shaft of 3.7m diameter, and other associated infrastructure facilities; the installation of turbines, generators and safety systems; the laying of transmission lines.
On February 23, 2010, Ministry of Environment & Forests (MOEF) had accorded the TOR for detailed EIA study and pre construction clearance and primary and secondary data for the preparation of the EIA report has been collected.
In September 2012, the flora fauna data and river water quality data have been reaffirmed with fresh data collected.
In September 2013, Socio Economic survey and public consultation were conducted. SMEC was appointed to undertake the Social impact assessment (SIA) works on the project.
A meeting was held on July 20, 2015 and July 21, 2015 regarding the consideration of Project Proposals for Scoping and Environment Clearance.
The project involves the construction of a 96MW power plant on a 25ha of land in the Nyukcharong Chu River in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India.
