Japan-based Smart Community Co., Ltd (SCCL) is planning to redevelop the golf course located in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the Philippines.
The project involves the renovation and redevelopment of an 85ha golf course and the construction of a retirement village. It will be developed in two phases.
The first phase includes the renovation and re-development of the whole golf course at a cost of US$3 million. This will cover the renovation of the clubhouse, the installation of sprinkler systems, the repair of ponds, and the upgrade of machinery and equipment.
The second phase includes the development of 2,000 condominium units within a six-year period at a cost of US$27 million. 200 condominium units will be developed by 2018 and the remaining 1,800 over the course of the following four years.
The project also includes the construction a gym, a sports center, arts and crafts studios, karaoke or music rooms, function rooms, a library, and bars and restaurants
In December 2015, SCCL presented the business plan to the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), following which, SBMA granted a 50-year lease period to SCCL for the redevelopment in August 2016.
