Shri Bajrang Power & Ispat Ltd (SBPI) is planning to build a hydroelectric power plant in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of a 45MW hydroelectric power plant on 27ha of land, a surge bay, a penstock, a weir, a powerhouse, a tailrace channel, a switchyard, a spillway, intake structures, access roads , the installation of turbines and pumps, and the laying of transmission lines.
On August 21, 2010, Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) recommended clearance for pre-construction activities and approved the proposed term of reference (TOR) with some additional TORs.
On September 13, 2010, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF &CC) granted TOR to the project and the two years validity period ended on September 13, 2012.
On September 12, 2011, The Directorate of Energy granted techno-economic clearance to the project.
In December 2011, Asian Consulting Engineers Pvt Ltd (ACE) prepared Draft EIA report on behalf of SBPI.
In October 2012, R S Envirolink Technologies Pvt Ltd (RSET) prepared Minimum Environmental Ecological Flow Study Final Report on behalf of SBPI and submitted to MoEF &CC.
On June 27, 2013, SBPI conducted a public hearing on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environment Management Plan (EMP) reports within the validity period of the TOR.
The project is awaiting final environmental clearance (EC).
