St. Augustine Gold and Copper Ltd (SAGC) in partnership with Nationwide Development Corporation (NADECOR) are planning the development of the copper-gold mine in Barangay Kingking, Pantukan, Compostela Valley, Philippines.
The project involves the development of copper-gold mine with a production capacity of 33.11MTPA of ore. It includes the construction, development, and operation of the surface open pit and underground coal mine and associated infrastructure.
The project includes the construction of haul roads, 160 MW coal-fired power plant, a 138 kV transmission line, general mine infrastructure, administrative buildings and other related facilities.
Altrius Engineering Services Pty Ltd, Independent Mining Consultants, Inc., M3 Engineering & Technology Corp have been appointed as consulting companies, Atlas Copco AB, Caterpillar Inc., Joy Global Inc. as equipment supply contractor and Ratel Gold Limited and Russell Mining & Minerals Inc. as study consultant.
In 2012, Preliminary Feasibility Study was completed on the project.
In 2013, the project received approvals for Annual Safety and Health Program (ASHP) and the Community Development Program (CDP) from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) in the Davao region.
On January 21, 2014, MGB conducted a preliminary review of the DMPF (Declaration of Mining Project Feasibility) on the project.
On March 14, 2014, SAGC and NADECOR received ASHP approvals.
On April 14, 2014, SAGC and NADECOR received CDP approvals.
On February 26, 2015, NADECOR received Environmental Impact Study approvals and received Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Philippine Environmental Management Bureau for the project.
On January 4, 2016, MGB approved the DMPF, therefore authorizing NADECOR and SAGC to proceed in the development, construction, and operation of the mine.
On August 8, 2016, NADECOR announced that Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through MGB has approved the renewal of the Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) for another 25-year term.
The Company is dependent upon its ability to obtain additional financing to complete Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) to develop the mine site, and fund operations.
As of June 2017, study activities are underway.
