Summary

Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE) is planning to develop an electrical transmission line between Saint-Brieuc off-shore wind farm and Doberie Substation in France.

The project involves the construction of a 49km of 220kv subsea and underground cable transmission line. It will include the laying of two pairs of 220kv submarine cables of 33km length, two pairs of 220kv underground cables of 16km length and the extension of the 220kv La Doberie substation on a 2.5ha area, a connection junction between submarine cables and underground cables and installation of transformers and related equipment.

In October 2015, RTE filed the authorization permits required for the construction and operation of transmission connection line.

A public inquiry process has been held in August 2016 - September 2016.

In January 2017, The project received a favorable opinion from the public inquiry.

In April 2017, Ailes Marines, the developer and future operator of the 496MW offshore wind farm project in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, France, has received the three administrative authorizations (The company has obtained the concession of utilisation of the maritime public domain; the Unique Authorization for the installations Structures, Works and Activities (AU IOTA); and the work Project Authorization (APO))required to construct and operate the wind farm.

Planning activities are underway. The construction is expected to start in 2019 and the wind farm is scheduled to be operational in 2021.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 49km long 220kv submarine and underground transmission line between the Saint-Brieuc off-shore wind farm and La Doberie in France.

The US$217 million project includes the following:

1. Laying of a 33km 220kv submarine transmission line

2. Laying of a 16km 220kv underground transmission line

3. Extension of La Doberie 220kv substation on a 2.5ha area

4. Construction of a connection junction between submarine cables and underground cables

5. Installation of transformers

6. Installation of controls systems

7. Installation of related equipment
