The New South Wales Government through its Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is planning to upgrade a road in New South Wales, Australia.
The project includes the upgrade of a 3.2km Mona Vale road between Manor road and Foley street from a two-lane undivided road to a four-lane divided road.
The investment will also feature three meter wide shoulders along the length of Mona Vale road between Manor road and Foley street, replace the existing roundabout at the intersection of Ponderosa Parade and Samuel Street with new traffic lights and signalized pedestrian crossing, new bus priority lanes on Mona Vale road on the approaches, upgrade signalized T-intersection at Foley street and Mona Vale road, providing additional pedestrian connectivity away from the Mona Vale road corridor due to the steep descent from the Warriewood Escarpement and fauna connectivity at the end of Lane Cove road near Narrabeen Creek.
RMS selected Intradoc PTY Ltd and SMEC Australia as consultants to prepare business case documentation.
RMS developed a preliminary concept design and sought feedback until November 14, 2014.
RMS prepared a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) and displayed for community and stakeholder comment in the third quarter of 2015.
In June 2016, NSW government allocated US$7.8 million in the 2016 - 2017 state budget to proceed towards construction.
In May 2017, RMS secured necessary planning approvals.
In June 2017, NSW government committed US$13 million in the 2017 - 2018 state budget for the project.
