The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) of North South Wales Government is planning to construct a new motorway between the M7 Motorway near Cecil Park to The Northern Road near Luddenham in Sydney, Australia.
The project involves the construction of 14km east-west motorway comprising six lanes linking Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek and to Sydney’s motorway network.
It includes the construction of access roads, interchanges, pedestrian walkways, cycle tracks and related infrastructure, and the installation of signaling and safety systems.
RMS engaged Aurecon Australia Pty Ltd to carry out a strategic route options analysis to determine the preferred route.
In October 2015, a workshop was held to recommend a shortlist of possible route options for further investigation and development.
In March 2016, consultation on eight shortlisted route options was closed.
In June 2016, NSW government committed US$4.4 million in the 2016 - 2017 state budget for the project.
In June 2017, NSW government allocated US$16 million funding in the 2017-2018 state budget for the project.
In July 2017, the preliminary road design is expected to be held on public consultation in fourth quarter 2017
Subject to approval, Construction works on the project is scheduled to commence in 2020 and expected to complete in 2025.
