Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) is planning to undertake the Keirs Hill Wind Farm project.
The project involves the construction of a 57.8MW wind farm. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, substations, switchyard, and the installation of 17 turbines, power cables.
The proposed wind farm would use turbines which are a maximum of 149m in height to the tip of the blade.

As of August 2014, the project was facing delay due to the opposition from local authorities and residents.
In June 2015, public inquiry commenced and completed on October 8, 2015.
As of February 2016, Natural Power completed a full baseline assessment, which includes the use of bat detectors at height and is preparing the impact assessment.
On November 22, 2016, East Ayrshire Council rejected the planning permission due to the hight of the turbines and the landscape and visual impact of the project effect on residential and historic sites in the area.
The project involves the construction of a 57.8MW wind farm between Patna and Dalmellington in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
