Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (RCF) is undertaking the third phase of Thal Fertilizer Complex expansion in Maharashtra, India.
The project involves the expansion of a fertilizer unit by installing production streams of 2,200 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) ammonia and 3,850MTPA urea.
It includes the construction of boilers, clinkers, steamers, coolers, evaporators and combustion chambers, and the installation of related machinery and safety systems.
The project is gas based and will be executed on the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC)/ lump sum turnkey (LSTK) basis.
On September 02, 2013, project received environmental clearance (EC).
In April 2014, the project value shoots up by US$83 million to US$762 million from US$679 million because the company is in process to receive the government's approval to start the project.
A consortium of Technip and L&T was awarded engineering and construction contractor and ML2R consultancy as lead consultant for the project in the first quarter of 2016.
On April 22 2016, RCF issued tenders for cleaning of proposed sites of Thal Phase III with a submission deadline as on May 5, 2017.
RCF awaiting approvals from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to start construction works on the project.
