Iran's utility Qeshm Free Trade Zone Organization (QFTZO) is undertaking the construction of Qeshm Island Persian Gulf Regional Transport Network in Hormoz straight, Iran.

The project involves the development of a transport network and is being executed in four phases.

The first phase includes the expansion of a 700,000TEUs kaveh port, second phase includes the construction of a four-lane, 92km highway, third phase includes the construction of a double line railroad of 86km and fourth phase includes the construction of a 2.4km long and 32m width, Persian gulf bridge, features 2.2km over water and 200m on land.

In January 2010, the QFTZO received approvals from the authorities.

Awdge Pazhoohesh Sanaat (A.P.S) has been appointed as the management contractor and Petro Sahel Engineering Consulting Co. as the engineering, procurement, construction and finance (EPCF) contractor.

IRGC engineering division and Khatamol Anbia have been appointed as the EPCF contractor for fourth phase.

On March 14, 2011, construction works were commenced.

In January 2015, Management and Planning Organization of Iran (MPO) was approved to provide US$579 million fund to develop the Persian Gulf Bridge.

Construction works are underway.Scope

The project involves the development of a transport network in Hormoz straight, Iran.

The US$2,000 million project includes the following:

1. Expansion of a Kaveh Port with capacity of 700,000TEUs in first phase

2. Construction of a four-lane 92km highway in second phase

3. Construction of a 86km double line railroad in third phase
