The project involves the construction of a 1,000MW solar power plant on 3,200ha of land. It will be developed in two stages.
The first stage includes the construction of a 500MW solar power plant on 1,200ha of land and the installation of 1,000,000 photovoltaic solar panels.
The second stage includes the construction of a 500MW solar power plant.
The project includes the construction of a substation, a site office, a battery storage area, and related infrastructure, the installation of solar panels, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In November 2016, Pacific Hydro acquired land for the project.
In May 2017, Pacific Hydro submitted a project planning application to the Burdekin Shire Council.
