In February 2016, the FEIR received opposition from public agencies. In March 2016, project received opposition for supply 250 trains per year which resulted the reduction to 150 trains per year from PSX.
On May 16, 2016, the county appeared to deny the project in the discussions held with Planning Commission.
On October 5, 2016, Planning Commission denied the project. On October 19, 2016, PSX appealed the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission’s denial of its rail spur project to the county Board of Supervisors. The appeal will be heard by a new board in 2017.
On March 14, 2017, San Luis Obispo County Council rejected the planning application submitted by PSX.
