The Penang State Government (PSG) is planning to undertake the construction of a cable car transit system in Penang, Malaysia.
The project involves the construction of a 3km cable car transit system from Penang Sentral Transportation Hub in Butterworth to Nordin Street Ghaut in George Town. In May 2016, the project was rejected by the Penang Port Authority.
Penang Sentral Sdn Bhd (PSSB) a unit of MRCB has been appointed as the study consultant to determine the functionalities and design parameters of the proposed project.
On September 2, 2016, Department of Environment (DoE) granted its approval for a detailed environment impact assessment (DEIA).
The EIA report has been kept for public display and consultation.
Planning activities are currently underway with detail design.
As of February 2018, EIA process is underway.
